Eight Asean juniors off to Sawgrass, thanks to CIMB
CIMB Group have rewarded eight of the region’s junior golfers with scholarships for an overseas training stint.
The intensive training programme will be conducted by the PGA Tour Academy at their headquarters at TPC Sawgrass in Florida from Dec 13-20.
This is part of the CIMB junior golf development programme. The four boys and four girls are from Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore and Thailand.
They are Malaysians Evrin Chang and Loy Hee Ying, Indonesians Jordan Surya Irawan and Nadya Rosiana, Thais Danthai Boonma and Virunpat Olankitkunchai, and Singaporeans Tan Yan Ming and Rachel Lim.
The CIMB Group chief executive officer, Datuk Seri Nazir Razak, said: “We are very pleased that through our title sponsorship of the Asia Pacific Classic Malaysia, we are able to create development opportunities for the region’s top juniors with top coaches from the United States and also linking them with the PGA Tour.
“We believe that this corporate social responsibility initiative of the Group will lay a strong foundation in building future golf professionals in the region.”
Kicking off the CIMB junior development programme this year were training camps conducted in June and September by the PGA Tour Academy’s top coaches – Travis Fulton, Shane Gillespie and John Stahlschmidt.
The juniors also went for coaching clinics this week conducted by professionals taking part in the Asia Pacific Classic – India’s Arjun Atwal, the United States’ Ricky Barnes and Singapore’s Lam Chih Bing.

1. ELIGIBILITY
THE 2010 JAV OPEN JUNIOR GOLF CHAMPIONSHIP is open to all junior golfers ages 17 &
below and young amateurs age 18 to 21 years old. This will be played for two days
on December 18 and 19, 2009 at the Executive Course of the Valley Golf and Country Club,
Antipolo, Rizal, Philippines.
2. AGE CLASSIFICATION
Individual competition will be conducted over the following age group for boys & girls:
CLASS A 15-17 Yrs old CLASS D 9-10 Yrs old
CLASS B 13-14 Yrs old CLASS E 7-8 Yrs old
CLASS C 11-12 Yrs old CLASS F 6 Yrs old & below
young amateur 18-21 Yrs old
3. FORMAT
Manner of play will be 36 holes strokes play for CLASS A-D & 18 holes stroke play (9 holes per
day) for CLASS E-F

6. TIES
In the event of a tie for the Class Champion & over-all Champion , a sudden-death play-off will be
conducted immediately. All runner-up places shall be decided based on a Count back system.
7. FEES
Tournament fee is One Thousand Five Hundred Pesos (P 1,500.00). Payments can be deposited at
RCBC Savings bank San Roque, Marikina branch with acct. name JUNGOLF ASSOCIATION OF VALLEY
and acct. # 0006-0001364-4. Deadline of submission of entry is Dec. 10,2010. Entries may be faxed
thru #s 632 6584919 or email to jav.team@yahoo.com together with the deposit slip representing
payment of Tournament fee.
8. DRESS CODE
It is the responsibility of each player to be aware of and abide by, the Dress Code of the Host
club. Both on and off the Course and in the Clubhouse, players should wear reasonable, inoffensive
manner of dress. In general however, the following be observed:
a. Denim wear including jeans, is not permitted
b. Swimwear and athletic attire including tracks s, shorts, T-Shirts andsandals are not
allowed. c.
Footwear should be worn at all times, not to change in public areas taken of Host Club
rules regarding spike shoes.
9. SPECTATORS
Only 2 Spectators per player are allowed provided they shall stay only at car paths & not less
than 50 yards from the players. Any forms of communication with the players are not allowed.
PENALTY: 2 STROKES
10. OTHER RULES
The Committee may require a player to withdraw from the championship if it is felt the player
does not have a basic understanding of the rules of golf which includes etiquette or the requisite
golfing standard.
- All players must use a Driver and ball which is named in the current R&A &
USGA approved list. The tournament committee reserves the right to inspect any
driver and ball at any time during the tournament.
PENALTY: DISQUALIFICATION
- Players should report to the Starter at least 10 minutes before their
allotted starting time. If a player arrives late at his/her starting point, ready to play,
within five minutes his/her starting time, the penalty for failure to start on time is two
strokes, to be deducted from the score on the first hole.
PENALTY AFTER FIVE MINUTES: DISQUALIFICATION
